Embedded Software Engineer

About the role

HavocAI is looking for an Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development of low‑level software for its fleet of uncrewed surface vessels (USVs). You will work on both new prototypes and existing platforms, helping to create reliable, autonomous marine systems for defense, research and environmental monitoring.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and optimise drivers for CAN (J1939, NMEA2000, DroneCAN) and RS485 (ModBus) communication protocols.
• Integrate and test drivers for motors, batteries, actuators and sensors using vendor datasheets.
• Collaborate with hardware and autonomy engineers to abstract hardware functions for multiple vehicle types.
• Set up, exercise, document and maintain hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) test environments.
• Create and maintain software documentation, test schematics and design notes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Proven experience developing, testing and debugging embedded software on STM32 platforms.
• U.S. citizenship and eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
