Embedded Security Service Technician

About the role

Allied Universal is hiring an Embedded Security Service Technician in Farmingdale, NJ. The technician acts as an on-site resource at a client location, providing ongoing service, maintenance, repair, diagnostics and operational support for access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection and related electronic security systems.

Key responsibilities

• Service, maintain, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, replace and test electronic security systems such as locks, card readers, IP and analog cameras, wired and wireless systems and intercoms
• Respond to service requests, incidents and outages while meeting service level expectations
• Troubleshoot installation issues in line with company compliance, safety policies and building codes
• Support upgrades, firmware updates, software patches, database maintenance and equipment replacements
• Assist with system commissioning, device programming and configuration changes
• Document and track service issues in ServiceNow in line with federal, state and local regulations
• Interpret electrical schematics, CAD drawings and related documents for low-voltage applications

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with at least one year of driving experience, a clean record and ability to operate a company vehicle
• At least 3 years of field experience in the electronic security industry
• At least 2 years servicing, maintaining or supporting enterprise-level access control and video management systems
• State-specific licensing or ability to obtain it after hire
• Able to complete tasks independently and in a team, lift up to 50 lbs with assistance and work on ladders

Required skills

• Excellent computer skills and strong troubleshooting across electrical, mechanical, electronic and networked systems
• Working knowledge of Windows, networking fundamentals, IP addressing and server/client environments
• Oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with hand and power tools; availability for on-call rotations
• PREFERRED: experience with access control, video management or integration software (Lenel, Brivo, Milestone, etc.), healthcare or data center environments, and an associate's degree or certifications such as Security+ or Network+
