Embedded Drone Stack - Software Engineer

About the role

As a Robotic Software Engineer you will design and integrate complex autonomy and vehicle‑intelligence systems that span both hardware and software domains. You will work on embedding autonomy algorithms into drone platforms and validate them in software‑in‑the‑loop, hardware‑in‑the‑loop and live flight environments.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt and develop modular autonomy capabilities for diverse defense problems.
• Integrate and deploy autonomy solutions onto embedded Linux and other hardware platforms, interfacing with sensors and collecting data.
• Troubleshoot complex integration and software issues to ensure high reliability and performance.
• Integrate autonomy software with aircraft autopilots, datalinks, sensors, PNT/GPS/INS, and ground control stations.
• Support live flight tests of autonomy software on group 1‑5 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
• Collaborate with third‑party UAS vendors to integrate Applied autonomy software onto OEM hardware.
• Conduct system‑level setup, testing, and validation, including SIL and HIL evaluations.
• Work with autonomy engineers to implement service‑oriented architecture components.

Required profile

• Strong background in robotics software integration and embedded systems.
• Experience with UAV platforms and flight‑test environments.
• Proficiency in computer networking and sensor integration.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware‑software integration issues.
