Embedded Software Engineer – Drone Stack

About the role

Applied Intuition is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to join its Drone Stack team. The role focuses on designing, integrating, and fielding advanced autonomy and vehicle‑intelligence systems for defense and commercial unmanned aerial vehicles. You will work on real‑world platforms, bridging hardware and software to deliver reliable, scalable capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Develop modular autonomy capabilities for diverse defense missions on embedded Linux and other compute platforms.
• Integrate software with vehicle hardware, including autopilots, datalinks, sensor payloads, PNT/GPS/INS, and ground control stations.
• Build service‑oriented architecture and inter‑process messaging frameworks for autonomous UAS.
• Perform system‑level bring‑up, testing, and validation using software‑in‑the‑loop (SIL) and hardware‑in‑the‑loop (HIL) methods.
• Participate in live flight testing across Groups 1‑5 UAVs and troubleshoot integration issues.

Required profile

• Strong fundamentals in computer networking and code integration.
• Hands‑on enthusiasm for robotics and autonomy work.
• Ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and support customer‑facing demos.
