Elementary Cross Country Coach (2026-2027)

About the role

The Tucson Unified School District is seeking an enthusiastic Elementary Cross Country Coach for the 2026-2027 school year. This temporary, hourly position supports K‑2 and 3‑5 students, promoting sportsmanship, character development, and safety throughout the cross‑country season.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise students during practices, locker‑room activities, and bus transportation.
• Enforce safety protocols and ensure the welfare of all participants.
• Model and teach sportsmanship, patience, tolerance, and diplomatic communication with athletes, parents, officials, and spectators.
• Coordinate two hourly sessions per day (one for K‑2, one for grades 3‑5) and adhere to the season schedule (September‑November).
• Maintain a positive, classroom‑extension environment that reflects district values.

Required profile

• NFHS Concussion Certificate (Concussion in Sports Course).
• NFHS Sportsmanship Certificate.
• Suicide Prevention Training or NFHS Student Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Certificate.
• Current CPR with AED certification (in‑person only).
• Current First Aid certification (in‑person only).
• Current Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Bloodborne pathogen training after hire.
• Proof of immunity to measles and rubella or documented MMR immunization.

Required skills
