Electrician

About the role

Amentum is seeking an electrician located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. The electrician performs a variety of electrical trade functions, including the installation, maintenance and repair of equipment for the generation, distribution or utilization of electric energy.

Key responsibilities

• Perform all facets of electrical installations and troubleshoot equipment to prevent malfunctions and identify improvement opportunities.
• Repair, replace and maintain electrical wiring and circuits on base assets, responding promptly to equipment breakdowns.
• Maintain and repair indoor and outdoor lighting systems, including controls, and electrical distribution systems in base buildings.
• Repair and replace motors, contacts, relays, motor starters and motor sheaves, and wiring related to HVAC equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance of electrical fixtures and general maintenance tasks, and run new power cables and project work.
• Prepare estimates, man hours, materials used and order items needed for jobs or inventory replacement.
• Follow policies, procedures and service standards, comply with safety and health requirements, and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• US citizen with a valid driver's license and a high school diploma or GED.
• DPOR Journeyman or Master license from any state to transfer, or 10 years of relevant field experience.
• Active government clearance at the time of application.
• Ability to work independently or in a team, and to climb stairs and ladders repeatedly during a shift.

Required skills

• Knowledge of NEC code and ability to read blueprints, manuals and construction drawings.
• Experience with voltages up to 480 V.
• Use of electric meters and hand and powered tools.
• Experience with low-voltage/control wiring is highly desired.
