Electrical Helper - Construction/Installations (Sanford, FL Area)

About the role

An electrical helper works on a variety of construction and installation jobs, within a team and possibly travelling out of town. The position is open to people who can attend in-house training programs to advance their knowledge of the construction and/or electrical industry.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and fixtures used in the petroleum industry.
• Install conduits, pull wire and make final connections to circuit breakers, petroleum pumps, dispensers, point-of-sale consoles, tank monitors and petroleum lighting.
• Inspect electrical systems and components to verify compliance with safety requirements, codes, project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
• Verify proper operation of the electrical system.
• Advise management, customers and employees about hazards and when systems are safe to operate.
• Assist the estimator with material take-offs, material costs and labor allowances.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 2 to 3 years of experience as an apprentice with an electrical company; no journeyman card needed.
• Ability to lift 75-100 lbs when necessary and to work outside in all types of weather.
• Ability to work under time constraints and to follow all company procedures.

Required skills

• Knowledge of electrician standards and codes.
• Detail-oriented approach and strong communication skills.
