Civil Engineer Project Manager

About the role

An experienced Civil Engineer / Project Manager is sought to lead civil engineering and land development projects from concept through construction. The role serves as the primary client contact and manages multidisciplinary teams delivering commercial, residential, industrial, institutional and mixed-use developments, with responsibility for quality, financial performance, schedule and client satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Manage multiple projects from due diligence through construction completion, developing scopes, budgets, schedules and work plans, and monitoring labor utilization, invoicing and profitability
• Lead meetings with clients, contractors, municipalities, regulatory agencies and consultants, and identify and mitigate project risks
• Oversee civil engineering plans and specifications, including site layout, grading and drainage, stormwater management, utility infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, roadway and parking design, and review calculations and construction documents for accuracy and regulatory compliance
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering staff
• Lead permitting with municipalities, counties and utility providers, coordinate review comments, and support zoning and entitlement activities
• Manage and mentor Project Engineers, EITs, CAD Designers and technical staff, run QA/QC reviews and support recruiting, onboarding and training
• Provide engineering oversight during construction, review RFIs and submittals, coordinate with contractors, conduct site visits and assist with closeout
• Develop relationships with developers, architects, contractors and municipal officials, help with proposals and fee estimates, and support business development

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in civil engineering and land development
• Experience managing site development projects from concept through construction
• Strong knowledge of site grading and drainage, stormwater management, utility infrastructure, erosion and sediment control, and local land development regulations
• Experience managing project budgets, schedules and client relationships
• Preferred: experience managing projects across multiple states in the Southeastern United States, established relationships with developers and municipalities, experience supervising engineering teams, and familiarity with Hydraflow, HEC-RAS, ICPR, WaterCAD, GIS or similar software

Physical requirements include site visits and inspections on active construction sites, navigating uneven terrain, occasional travel and lifting up to 25 pounds.
