Electrical Engineer – Building Engineering Services

About the role

HDR is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join its Building Engineering Services Group. You will help design critical infrastructure for data centers, commercial facilities, and other high‑performance environments, supporting technological advancement, sustainability, and user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects from schematic design through contract documents.
• Lead meetings and code‑compliance reviews with governing agencies.
• Manage workload to ensure timely delivery of design documents.
• Conduct on‑site work sessions with the Project Manager and multidisciplinary teams.
• Review electrical documents for conflicts across disciplines and produce specifications, equipment selections, and system designs.
• Assist with addenda, RFIs, CPRs, and change orders, updating project documents accordingly.
• Provide construction contract administration and perform QA/QC on the work of other electrical engineers and technicians.
• Perform additional duties as required to support project success.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting, power, systems).
• Experience with an architectural/engineering or consulting firm is preferred.
• Interest in sustainable design/LEED is a plus but not required.
