EHS Specialist

About the role

Kyocera AVX Greenville is looking for an EHS Specialist to ensure its manufacturing facility complies with all applicable environmental, health and safety regulations. The role also manages and coordinates the document control system so that it meets EHS regulations and ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and EHS internal audits, and lead and take part in site safety and environmental teams
• Ensure site compliance with state, local and federal EHS regulations and ISO 14001
• Create and sustain a safe, healthy and organized working environment across the facility
• Manage key EHS projects and programs, and provide timely follow-up on site incidents until action items are completed
• Help facilities management develop and implement the EHS action plan, and assist with problem solving
• Follow procedures for safety, chemical and hazardous waste handling, and drive administrative controls to eliminate hazards
• Prepare and deliver safety and environmental training, keeping proper records
• Lead continuous improvement in work practices and conditions, and conduct hazard and safety assessments
• Report on plant environmental, safety and health issues and liaise with management, legal and regulatory agencies as needed
• May handle hazardous waste and perform other related duties

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year of related experience at a manufacturing facility
• Preferred: RCRA, DOT, OSHA and First Aid/CPR training
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, troubleshoot and work independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• Detail-oriented, able to manage confidential information and communicate clearly verbally and in writing
