EEG/EKG Technician - Day Shifts

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a full-time EEG/EKG technician. The role covers routine, stat, pre-operative and outpatient EKG testing, as well as adult and pediatric EEGs, with four 10-hour day shifts.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine, stat, pre-operative and outpatient EKG testing, and adult and pediatric EEGs
• Ensure high-quality EKG recordings and 24-hour Holter monitor data, and other tests performed by the EKG department
• Assist with supplies and storage of EKG materials, and participate in report generation, charting and delivery
• Administer EEG tests: place electrodes on the patient's scalp, give stimuli such as lights or breathing exercises, and measure brain responses
• Submit EEG findings to neurologists, who use them to help diagnose brain damage or medical conditions
• Maintain EEG equipment, make CDs for remote readers, and perform clerical tasks as needed

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent
• BLS certification for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association
• 1 year of EKG technician experience preferred
• Completion of a basic EKG course with good knowledge of cardiac rhythms and arrhythmia recognition; must obtain within 3 months of hire
• Credential as Registered EEG Technologist (R.EEG.T) by A.B.R.E.T. or certified EEG Technician by C.M.E.T. preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and push/pull up to 40 lbs; work in a fast-paced, stressful environment
• Annual Joint Commission education, TB/PPD surveillance and maintenance of professional licenses or certifications
