Echocardiographer Technician (Echo Tech) - Cardiology

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction, is hiring a full-time Echocardiographer Technician (Echo Tech) for its cardiology department. The technician performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart under the immediate direction of the Lead Echo Tech, following hospital and department policies.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cardiac scans including M-mode, 2-D, color, Doppler, exercise testing and TEE, and prepare for cardiac stress tests, TEE, contrast and bubble studies
• Identify heart anatomy with ultrasound and enter patient data and orders before performing the exam
• Report abnormal findings or hemodynamically significant changes to the interpreting physician
• Process CDs, train others in the use of the CPACS system, interview patients and help schedule them
• Maintain echo department paperwork, keep equipment in good condition and clean the labs, and report malfunctions
• Take part in quality improvement initiatives, wear lead protection when needed, cover call duties and perform other assigned tasks

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree preferred
• Completion of a cardiac sonographer or echocardiography certificate program
• RDCS or RCS certification; one year of clinical echocardiography experience preferred
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and pull/push up to 40 lbs, and to work in a stressful environment
• Annual Joint Commission education, TB/PPD surveillance and maintenance of professional license or certification
