Early Education Apprentice – Assistant Teacher

About the role

The Early Education Apprenticeship offers a fully paid opportunity to gain hands‑on experience in infant, toddler or preschool classrooms, receive mentorship from senior teachers, and complete coursework toward Teacher certification.

Key responsibilities

• Prioritize child safety and maintain a family‑friendly, inclusive environment.
• Model YMCA core values and use positive behavior‑guidance methods.
• Assist the Lead Teacher with curriculum planning, classroom design, assessments and progress reporting.
• Supervise children, manage transitions, and communicate daily with families.
• Participate in training, staff meetings and adhere to YMCA policies.

Required profile

• Working towards Early Education and Care (EEC) certification.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to collaborate with staff and families, and commitment to YMCA philosophy.

• Conflict resolution and public relations skills.
