Teen Coordinator (Part-Time)

About the role

The Teen Coordinator develops, supervises and implements the YMCA's teen programs, including recruitment and retention of participants. Working under the supervision of the Associate Executive Director or the Family and Sports Director, the role includes facilitating small group activities, modelling and reinforcing character traits such as responsibility, caring, honesty and respect, and providing a safe environment for young people. It is a part-time position of up to 25 hours per week.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver quality programs for middle and high school students while enforcing YMCA policies, rules and procedures.
• Recruit and retain participants in Signature Teen Programs.
• Work with the Associate Executive Director to set goals and review standards for creative, culturally aware, educational, recreational, environmental and social activities.
• Maintain and monitor enrollment and participation in Signature programs (Achievers, Youth & Government, Leaders Club).
• Ensure teens take part in required training, special events and community collaborations.
• Attend meetings requested by Center leadership and keep program areas and supplies in good condition.
• Meet reporting and tracking requirements for collaborative programs and grant funding, and communicate program issues promptly.
• Stay current in required and voluntary training and follow the Association Teen Development Program Standards.

Required profile

• Age 21 or older.
• At least one year of experience in youth development or working with teens.
• Experience in program management, including recruitment, resource allocation, delivery and execution.
• High school degree required.
• Ability to interact with members and staff, and occasionally to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Flexible schedule including daytime, evening and weekend availability.

Required skills

• Child abuse prevention training within 90 days of employment.
• CPR/AED and first aid certification within 90 days of employment.

Pay is $20.85 - $25.00 per hour.
