About the role

Affirm is looking for recent graduates with a computer‑science background to join its Early Career Software Engineer program. The role is hybrid, with three days a week in the New York City or San Francisco office, and offers a one‑year rotational experience across different tech stacks.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with a tenured Affirmer and cross‑functional stakeholders to deliver features that align with business goals.
• Write clear, well‑tested, and extensible code while navigating a large codebase.
• Balance speed of delivery with system reliability to avoid downtime.
• Participate in code reviews, debugging, and provide constructive feedback.
• Engage in team‑wide growth and development activities to foster community.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to translate business problems into software solutions.
• Comfortable working with large codebases, debugging, and reviewing peers’ code.
• Proactive ownership of personal growth, seeking feedback from managers and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for global collaboration.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
