Drilling Fluids Technician V

About the role

Lewis Energy Group, a vertically integrated exploration and production company and leading natural gas producer in South Texas, is hiring a Drilling Fluids Technician V in Encinal, TX. The technician provides well site service to customers by applying knowledge of company products and services together with experience in drilling fluid technology to optimise service quality and rig performance.

Key responsibilities

• Rig operations: give technical guidance to maximise rig performance and well stability, interpret drilling fluid programs and follow mix recommendations, work with rig personnel and troubleshoot problems.
• Solids control: oversee solids control operations, check equipment against the program, inspect auxiliary equipment (transfer pump, Fractank, hoses) and lab equipment, and calibrate the mud scale, retort cell and thermometers.
• Material usage: schedule drilling fluid sacks and bulk materials, maintain inventory at the rig site, track daily usage and keep the chemical safety data sheet binder up to date.
• Reporting: generate a daily drilling fluid report, submit a reconciled recap with well data and lessons learned, and provide a daily solids control report.
• Mentoring: mentor lower-level technicians and help train new employees.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university, plus at least four years of oilfield experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.
• Valid driver's license.
• Drilling fluids technology training.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Ability to read safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals, and to write routine reports.
• Basic math skills including rates, ratios, percents and graph interpretation.
• Strong written and verbal communication, leadership and teamwork skills.
