Docketing Specialist - Intellectual Property

About the role

Norton Rose Fulbright, a global law firm with more than 3,000 lawyers and 3,000 business services professionals, is hiring a Docketing Specialist to support its Intellectual Property practice. The role maintains the firm's docketing system, manages critical deadlines and supports attorneys with administrative and docketing functions. The position is based in Austin, Dallas, Houston or San Antonio, Texas, with a hybrid policy requiring occasional office presence.

Key responsibilities

• Create records in the database, docket or calendar due dates, and remove them when appropriate
• Follow up with attorneys and/or paralegals on actions due and related tasks
• Docket and review US and foreign prosecution mail, opposition, interference and appellate matters
• Monitor and update attorney dockets daily, paying close attention to approaching deadlines
• Intake and audit transfer files
• Maintain knowledge of the latest IP rules, domestic and foreign
• Investigate and troubleshoot docketing issues

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional experience; a Bachelor's degree is preferred, otherwise 9 years of experience is required
• Experience with US and foreign trademark docketing is required
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel and Word
• Knowledge of docketing software is a plus
