Division Clerk

About the role

The Division Clerk supports the 4D Medical Unit at Lutheran Hospital by handling clerical, receptionist, and communication duties under the supervision of professional nursing staff. This position ensures smooth office operations and assists with patient care processes during the evening shift.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately transcribe and process all orders, notifying RN of urgent items.
• Prepare, maintain, and process patient charts and related documentation.
• Handle communications between the nursing unit, physicians, and other departments with confidentiality.
• Manage office supplies, inventory, and procurement as directed.
• Navigate facility computer systems (ADTR, computer order entry, charge entry, electronic medical records).
• Perform errands, file mail, schedule diagnostics/appointments, and compile statistics.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; knowledge of medical terminology.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and meet strict deadlines.
• Strong customer service orientation and courteous interaction with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Physical ability to sit for extended periods, use manual dexterity, and work in stressful conditions.

Required skills

• Basic office equipment operation.
• Computer proficiency with ADTR, computer order entry, charge entry, and electronic medical records systems.
