Distribution Center Manager (2nd Shift)

About the role

HD Supply is looking for a Manager, Distribution (2nd shift) to lead the operation of a distribution center in support of company goals. The manager gives input and feedback on all operations processes and results to the DC Manager, and supports planning, budgeting, fleet management, compliance and inventory management. The role typically involves overnight travel 5% to 20% of the time.

Key responsibilities

• Provide departmental input to the DC Manager on operating plans for warehouse and transportation, covering facility, equipment and staff needs.
• Identify the financial resources needed for the operating plan, justify costs, and help develop department operating budgets.
• Recommend and implement process improvements, and run routine analyses of functions, processes and asset utilization (equipment, resources, labor).
• Ensure associates comply with safety, Hazmat, legal and HR policies, and report safety and security issues to the DC Manager.
• Manage the performance of the Assistant Manager and/or hourly associates, recognizing, training, coaching, counseling and taking corrective action when needed.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; advanced degrees may offset less experience.
• 7+ years of experience in a distribution center, including 3+ years of management experience.
• Ability to analyze and investigate solutions, make decisions based on professional methods and business principles, and manage a team of individual contributors and support staff.

Work conditions

• Comfortable environment with occasional exposure to temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises and fumes.
• Intermittent periods of continuous physical exertion, including lifting and maneuvering heavy or awkward loads (50+ pounds).
