Dispatcher

About the role

The Dispatcher supports the Security Department at Union Hospital, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors, caregivers and property by coordinating dispatch activities and responding to emergencies.

Key responsibilities

• Receive calls and requests for service, formulate appropriate responses, and dispatch personnel.
• Regulate radio traffic, answer questions, and give directions to visitors, caregivers and patients.
• Monitor CCTV for unusual activity and respond to security situations.
• Implement emergency procedures for fire, disaster, infant abduction, tornado, bomb threat, etc.
• Maintain accurate logs for dispatch, equipment, helipad, lost and recovered property, patient valuables, and occurrences.
• Maintain knowledge of access control and alarm systems and their appropriate responses.

Required profile

• High school graduate.
• Proficiency with computer software and typing/data entry.
• Clear speaking voice for radio communication.
• Ability to dispatch personnel in escalating situations.
• Visual acuity to continuously monitor security screens.
