Director, Treasury and Capital Markets

About the role

MicroStrategy is hiring a Director, Treasury and Capital Markets to serve as a senior member of its Treasury organization, reporting to the VP, Corporate Treasurer. The role leads treasury, capital markets, Bitcoin, liquidity and custody activities and gives day-to-day oversight to the Treasury team. It is a fully onsite position in the Tysons Corner, VA office, with office attendance Monday through Thursday.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day Treasury execution, including capital markets, Bitcoin operations, liquidity management, financial analysis and Treasury reporting, and mentor junior team members.
• Lead capital markets execution and analysis (equity, debt, preferred equity, derivatives) and recommend capital allocation, transaction structure and pricing.
• Oversee Bitcoin operations (trading analytics, reconciliations, reporting, internal controls) and Bitcoin custody strategy, including transfers, wallets, on-chain analysis and custodian due diligence.
• Oversee liquidity and cash management, including cash forecasting, USD reserve investments, global cash optimization and preferred dividends.
• Own Treasury reporting and controls, including weekly Bitcoin/ATM reporting, quarterly financial reporting support, debt covenant compliance and coordination with Accounting, SEC Reporting, Internal Audit and external auditors.
• Lead strategic Treasury projects such as tokenization, preferred securities, rating agency engagement, new financing structures and Treasury technology and automation.
• Manage external relationships with investment banks, custodians, rating agencies, lenders, auditors and other financial institutions, and partner with Legal, Accounting, Investor Relations, Tax and IT.
• Prepare and review financial analyses, transaction models, Board materials and executive presentations, and drive Treasury technology and process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Business or a related field; MBA, CFA or equivalent preferred.
• 6-10+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate finance, treasury or a similar rigorous financial environment.
• Strong transaction experience in capital markets, M&A, structured finance or similar complex transactions.
• Ability to lead complex projects, manage junior professionals and give clear recommendations to senior management.
• Strong interest in Bitcoin and digital assets; direct experience with Bitcoin, custody, trading or blockchain infrastructure preferred but not required.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel and financial modeling, with strong PowerPoint and presentation skills.
• Experience with equity and debt capital markets; convertible debt, preferred equity, derivatives or structured securities strongly preferred.
• Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Kynex or comparable platforms preferred.

What we offer

• Base salary range of $155,900 to $280,500.
