Director, Settlement Operations Risks & Controls

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a senior leader to oversee risk and control functions within its Global Settlement Operations team. The role ensures a resilient settlement environment, operational stability, and continuous improvement across all settlement products and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Review internal settlement processes with owners to identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and emerging risks.
• Act as a trusted operational risk advisor, recommending new controls to mitigate residual risks.
• Define Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and thresholds for proactive risk identification and reporting.
• Lead and coordinate internal and external audit activities, ensuring SOX and SOC1 compliance.
• Manage Mastercard’s alternate settlement bank process globally, planning, coordinating, and reporting results to senior management.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive process improvements and risk mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in settlement operations, treasury, or related financial services.
• Proven track record in operational risk management and control design.
• Strong knowledge of SOX, SOC1, and audit methodologies.
• Ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross‑regional initiatives.
