Director Portfolio Management Middle Market Banking

About the role

Santander is seeking a senior leader to drive portfolio management for its Middle Market Banking division. The role oversees complex, multi‑year projects, ensuring strategic alignment, risk mitigation, and delivery of high‑quality results across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Define and manage project lifecycles from initiation to closure, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
• Lead cross‑functional teams, establish governance structures, and act as the primary escalation point for operational issues.
• Develop and present project documentation, dashboards, and executive communications.
• Drive change management, risk mitigation, and contingency planning to keep projects on track.

Required profile

• 9+ years of formal project management experience in financial services.
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders without authority and coach junior staff.
• Strong communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills at all organizational levels.
• Legal authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Required skills

• Project and portfolio management tools: Clarity, Visio, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint.
• Budgeting, estimating, and financial analysis.
• Risk identification and mitigation.

What we offer

• Base salary range $93,750 – $165,000 USD per year.
