Director of the School of Interior Design

About the role

The Director serves as the executive officer of the School of Interior Design at Louisiana State University, reporting to the President and Chancellor through the Dean of the College of Art and Design. The role begins on July 1, 2027 and involves providing visionary leadership for teaching, research, and service.

Key responsibilities

• Lead educational programs, budgeting, and strategic focus of the School.
• Manage quality, effectiveness, and progress of the School while promoting its public image.
• Participate in College and School committees, conduct research, and perform university and community service.
• Teach undergraduate or graduate courses as appropriate.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Interior Design or a related field.
• Distinguished record in teaching, research, and service sufficient for tenure.
• NCIDQ certification or equivalent licensure.
• Demonstrated academic administrative experience including development, personnel, student recruitment, and budget management.

Required skills

• Leadership and strategic planning for an academic unit.
• Ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation, and cultural competency.
