About the role
The Director of Student Engagement leads the development and delivery of programs that connect students with the college community, enhance belonging, and support academic and career success across Savannah Technical College’s campuses.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive student engagement strategy aligned with the college’s strategic plan.
- Create initiatives that promote student retention, persistence, graduation, and a sense of belonging.
- Coordinate Welcome Week, New Student Orientation, Student Appreciation Week, and other signature campus traditions.
- Design programming for first‑year students, adult learners, veterans, dual‑enrollment graduates, and non‑traditional students.
- Promote student wellness, personal growth, and overall success through educational programming and campus initiatives.
- Advise the Student Government Association and provide oversight for all recognized student organizations.
- Develop leadership programs, retreats, workshops, and coordinate participation in state and national leadership conferences.
- Encourage civic engagement, volunteerism, and community‑service opportunities.
- Support honor societies and career‑focused organizations such as SkillsUSA, Phi Theta Kappa, Phi Beta Lambda, HOSA, and others.
- Plan and manage a comprehensive calendar of educational, cultural, recreational, leadership, and community‑engagement activities across all instructional locations.
Required profile
- Proven leadership experience in student affairs or higher‑education engagement.
- Strong understanding of recruitment, retention, persistence, and workforce‑readiness initiatives.
- Experience working with diverse student populations, including adult learners, veterans, and non‑traditional students.
- Ability to foster inclusive, equitable programming across multiple campuses.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with faculty, staff, employers, and community partners.
- Demonstrated capability to manage budgets, oversee events, and supervise student organization activities.
