Director of People Operations

About the role

Planful is at a pivotal growth stage with a new CEO and ambitious goals. Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Director of People Operations will translate business priorities into impactful people programs while shaping a high‑performing global culture.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the CPO and senior leaders to define and execute people priorities.
• Lead, coach, and develop a small People team, stepping in to handle work directly when needed.
• Act as a trusted advisor on organizational effectiveness, performance, talent decisions, workforce planning, and team health.
• Own complex employee‑relations matters from start to finish, balancing consistency, compliance, and employee experience.
• Design and drive programs for performance management, talent development, succession planning, manager enablement, employee engagement, and culture.
• Leverage people data and feedback to identify trends, recommend actions, and provide monthly reporting.
• Oversee compensation and benefits programs, collaborating with Finance on budgeting and equitable pay.
• Ensure reliable day‑to‑day HR operations, including HRIS management, data integrity, reporting, policies, and lifecycle processes.
• Maintain compliant people policies across all operating locations, staying current on employment laws.
• Identify process gaps, simplify work, and implement solutions while adapting quickly to changing business needs.

Required profile

• Progressive People or HR leadership experience with hands‑on expertise across employee relations, performance management, talent, engagement, compensation, and operations.
• Proven player‑coach track record, leading a small team while personally delivering high‑quality outcomes.
• Strong business judgment and confidence to advise senior leaders, challenge constructively, and navigate sensitive situations.
• Deep knowledge of HR practices and U.S. employment law.

Required skills
