HR, Benefits & Compliance Manager

About the role

Our client is seeking an experienced HR, Benefits & Compliance Manager to take ownership of the company’s benefits programs, business insurance and subcontractor compliance, and key HR compliance functions. This is a hands‑on role for someone who is highly organized, detail‑oriented, and confident navigating federal and multi‑state employment requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Design, renew and administer medical, dental, vision, life, disability and 401(k) plans; lead open enrollment and manage COBRA, leaves of absence and disability administration.
• Partner with the CFO and insurance broker to manage commercial insurance, annual renewals, premium audits and subcontractor insurance compliance, including COI collection and verification.
• Serve as subject‑matter expert on federal and multi‑state employment laws, maintain the employee handbook, oversee I‑9/E‑Verify compliance, conduct investigations and support employee‑relations matters.

Required profile

• Proven experience in HR, benefits administration, compliance or risk management.
• Strong working knowledge of employee benefits, employment law and HR compliance across multiple states.
• Experience managing benefits renewals, open enrollment, COBRA, leaves and retirement plans.
• Experience with commercial or subcontractor insurance compliance strongly preferred.
• Exceptional organizational, documentation and discretion skills.
