Director of Material Sourcing & R&D

About the role

Beyond Yoga, a premium active‑lifestyle brand now part of Levi Strauss & Co., is seeking a senior leader to shape its material sourcing and research & development strategy. You will drive sustainable fabric innovation, ensure market‑ready materials, and align the portfolio with the brand’s long‑range vision.

Key responsibilities

• Define and operationalize the raw‑material sourcing strategy, partnering with mills and onboarding new suppliers.
• Lead end‑to‑end sustainable development of fabrics and trims, integrating Levi Strauss & Co. sustainability goals.
• Oversee the material portfolio, including in‑line, pipeline, and future‑forward concepts, grounded in testing and performance data.
• Own the color‑approval process, managing lab dips, strike‑offs, knit‑downs, and hand‑loom approvals.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Merchandising, Design, Product Development, and Sourcing to ensure materials meet aesthetic, performance, and quality standards at scale.
• Provide senior‑level technical leadership to supplier partners from concept through production.
• Mitigate risk and resolve issues across the material and garment lifecycle.

Required profile

• Deep understanding of apparel fabrics, sustainability standards, and consumer trends.
• Proven ability to anticipate market shifts and translate insights into material direction.
• Strong cross‑functional collaboration skills with senior stakeholders.
• Experience leading material innovation and supplier partnerships in a fast‑moving brand environment.
