Director of Global Logistics

About the role

An advanced hardware and defense technology company is seeking a senior leader to build and run a global logistics function from the ground up, overseeing international shipping, customs, and export compliance for regulated hardware programs.

Key responsibilities

• Own end‑to‑end inbound and outbound logistics across domestic and international channels, including carrier selection, routing, and freight‑forwarder management.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, supply‑chain and program teams to ensure on‑time, compliant, damage‑free deliveries.
• Maintain ITAR, EAR and other export‑control compliance, manage ECCN and USML classifications, and oversee customs documentation and broker relationships.
• Establish logistics infrastructure, SOPs, packaging standards and scalable shipment workflows.
• Identify and mitigate shipping, customs and operational risks, acting as escalation point for critical issues.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience in global logistics, international trade or export operations, preferably in defense, aerospace or regulated hardware.
• Proven track record building or scaling logistics operations, processes or teams in fast‑moving environments.
• Strong cross‑functional communication and ability to operate both strategically and tactically.

Required skills

• ITAR, EAR and export‑control compliance knowledge.
• Customs documentation, broker management and freight‑forwarding expertise.
• Experience with ERP, WMS or TMS platforms and logistics system integrations.
• Management of 3PLs, freight forwarders and external logistics partners at scale.
