Director of Finance & Accounting – NYC

About the role

We are seeking a Director of Finance & Accounting to join a $400M privately‑held apparel wholesaler in Midtown Manhattan. Reporting directly to the CFO, this permanent, full‑time position blends controllership with FP&A responsibilities and offers mentorship from a seasoned finance leader.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the CFO on special projects and strategic initiatives.
• Support the Controllership team in month‑end close, reporting, and compliance.
• Assist the FP&A function, treasury, and cash‑flow management.
• Identify and implement process improvements, automation, and procedural efficiencies.
• Work with brand licensing and royalty accounting as needed.

Required profile

• 10+ years of finance experience, preferably in wholesale/apparel or related product‑based sectors.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting from an accredited institution; CPA or public‑accounting background is a plus.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions.
