Director of Engineering – North America

About the role

IT8, a global engineering services firm, is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead all technical operations across the United States and Mexico. Reporting to the CTO, you will own delivery performance, translate global strategy into regional execution, and build the talent and vendor infrastructure needed for rapid growth.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee managers of mechanical, electrical, PLC/robot programming, and site installation teams for the US and Mexico.
• Drive project execution against deadlines, quality standards, and cost targets while managing utilization, gross margin, and project‑level P&L.
• Ensure technical consistency across disciplines and act as the bridge between global technical vision and day‑to‑day regional delivery.
• Build, scale, and retain high‑performing engineering teams; design annual training plans with HR.
• Maintain a vetted pool of subcontractors, approve outsourcing scope, and monitor deliverable quality and cost.
• Report North American technical KPIs to the CTO, flag risks early, and support investment decisions.

Required profile

• 6+ years progressive experience in industrial automation engineering, advancing from hands‑on roles to senior management.
• Proven track record managing multi‑discipline technical teams across multiple sites or geographies.
• Experience owning project‑level P&L, multi‑million‑dollar budgets, and driving utilization and margin performance.
• Established network of automation vendors and subcontractors in North America.
• Fluent in English and Spanish; authorized to work in the United States.
