Director of Design

About the role

BILL is seeking a Director of Design to own and elevate the visual identity across all touchpoints, from campaigns and web experiences to video and events. This senior leadership position reports to the VP of Marketing and collaborates with brand, product, and partner teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, grow and mentor a multidisciplinary design team, setting high standards and fostering a culture of excellence.
• Define and execute the creative vision for the BILL brand across campaigns, web, product marketing, events, and merchandise.
• Integrate AI tools into the design workflow to accelerate concepting, production and versioning while maintaining quality.
• Build a weekly video production pipeline, managing staffing, contractors and agency partners.
• Own the brand design system, its standards, templates and governance.
• Manage intake, prioritization, capacity, budget and agency relationships from RFP to delivery.

Required profile

• 10+ years of design experience with at least four years leading a multidisciplinary in‑house creative team.
• Proven portfolio showing both personal work and team‑led brand/campaign projects.
• Experience building and governing a brand design system in a fast‑moving environment.
• Hands‑on experience integrating AI tools into creative workflows.
• Track record delivering video and motion content for marketing.
• Comfort presenting design strategy to C‑level stakeholders and making data‑driven decisions.

Required skills

• Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
• Figma for UI/UX design.
• Motion and video tools such as After Effects and Premiere.
• AI‑assisted design workflows.
