Director of Communications

About the role

Wing, an Alphabet company pioneering drone delivery, is seeking a Director of Communications to shape the narrative around its fast‑growing, on‑demand logistics service. Based remotely in the United States, you will act as the chief storyteller and strategic communications architect as Wing expands into 20 new metro areas.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute a holistic internal and external communications strategy for complex metropolitan roll‑outs.
• Normalize drone delivery for consumers while preserving the brand’s innovative edge.
• Lead B2B and B2C messaging to position Wing as a preferred delivery partner for restaurants and retailers.
• Collaborate with Government and Affairs and Public Policy teams to engage federal, state, and local regulators on noise, privacy, and airspace safety.
• Oversee executive communications, thought‑leadership content, internal updates, and crisis‑communication plans.
• Translate sophisticated autonomous‑drone technology into clear, compelling stories for media, partners, policymakers, and employees.
• Build, mentor, and manage a high‑performing communications team across policy, product, and corporate functions.

Required profile

• 20+ years of experience in communications, public relations, or related fields, preferably in technology or logistics.
• Proven ability to develop and implement integrated communications strategies at scale.
• Strong track record of navigating regulatory environments and building relationships with government stakeholders.
• Exceptional storytelling skills with experience translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
• Leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams.
