Director of Business Development - Navy

About the role

Red 6, an innovative AR technology startup, is seeking a Director of Business Development to lead its Navy portfolio. Based in Orlando, FL, the role focuses on driving Navy customer engagement and shaping the company’s Navy growth strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a comprehensive Navy business development strategy aligned with corporate growth goals.
• Shape and influence requirements early in the acquisition cycle to match Red 6’s capabilities.
• Manage the full BD lifecycle: opportunity identification, capture strategy, proposal support, and contract transition.
• Establish and maintain trusted relationships with Navy decision‑makers, industry partners, and integrators.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with product, engineering, marketing, and leadership teams to ensure customer success.

Required profile

• 5+ years in a business development leadership role.
• 20+ years in the U.S. Navy, preferably retired at Commander rank or higher.
• Proven success capturing large‑scale Navy contracts, especially in emerging tech or training domains.
• Strong knowledge of Navy acquisition programs, POM processes, and contracting vehicles (SBIR, OTA, IDIQ).

Required skills

• Modeling & simulation and flight training expertise.
• Understanding of AR, XR, and Live‑Virtual‑Construct (LVC) systems.
• Familiarity with SBIR, OTA, IDIQ contracting mechanisms.
• Shipley capture methodology and proposal management.
