Director of Alumni Relations

About the role

The Director of Alumni Relations serves as the public face of the Alumni Office, cultivating relationships with alumni who have given at minimal to moderate levels and those with the capacity for larger gifts. Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, the role supports the mission and Jesuit Catholic values of Saint Ignatius College Prep while coordinating alumni events and engagement initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee signature events such as the Athletic Hall of Fame Induction, Benefactors' Receptions, Golf Outing, reunions, and society gatherings.
• Establish and manage a network of class leaders for each graduating class to facilitate communications, reunion planning, and class‑gift initiatives.
• Organize reunion committees, prepare invitations and booklets, and execute reunions ranging from 5‑year to 50‑year milestones.
• Identify and forward potential major‑gift alumni prospects to the Chief Development Officer using research tools and networking.
• Initiate, maintain, and nurture alumni relationships through personal interaction, phone calls, committees, events, and volunteer opportunities.
• Represent the school at regional and campus events, requiring travel, evenings, and weekends; 50‑hour work weeks are common during peak periods.
• Collaborate with Development staff, Communications, and IT to update development websites and coordinate marketing communications.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to build and sustain alumni relationships across a range of giving levels.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work evenings and weekends as event schedules demand.
• Strong teamwork orientation to partner with donors, development officers, and internal departments.
• Experience reviewing gift reports, making thank‑you calls, and supporting cultivation activities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with iWave research platform for prospect identification.
