About the role

Harold Washington College, a member of the City Colleges of Chicago, is seeking an innovative, collaborative, and student‑centered tenure‑track English instructor. The role involves teaching composition and related English courses on campus, fostering meaningful connections with a diverse student body, and integrating technology to enhance learning.

Key responsibilities

• Teach composition courses at all levels and, as needed, literature, journalism, and other English‑designated classes.
• Develop and maintain current curricula that respond to the needs of first‑generation and diverse students.
• Create clear assignments and examinations, provide constructive feedback, and assess learning outcomes.
• Utilize the online learning management system and integrate technology to support in‑person instruction.
• Engage with students inside and outside the classroom, advocating for their academic, personal, and career goals.
• Participate in departmental committees, curriculum development, and student‑success initiatives.
