About the role

The Director of Alumni Relations will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy for Texas A&M University‑San Antonio, preserving cherished traditions while introducing innovative programs for a diverse and growing alumni community.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a strategic alumni engagement plan aligned with the university’s mission and advancement goals.
• Create opportunities for alumni connection, mentorship, professional development, networking, advocacy, and philanthropy, with special pathways for first‑generation, adult learners, military‑affiliated, and affinity‑based alumni.
• Plan, coordinate, and oversee a portfolio of alumni events including homecoming, awards, reunions, athletics rallies, and volunteer recognition activities.
• Manage event logistics, budgeting, vendor relationships, sponsorships, and volunteer participation to ensure high‑quality experiences.
• Serve as the primary liaison to the emerging Alumni Council, providing strategic counsel, leadership development, and governance support.
• Collaborate with academic and program stakeholders across campus to strengthen alumni affinity and lifelong connections.

Required profile

• Proven experience in alumni relations or higher‑education advancement, with a full‑lifecycle understanding of alumni engagement.
• Exceptional relationship‑building and diplomatic skills for working with volunteers, university leadership, donors, and community partners.
• Strong leadership, flexibility, and the ability to manage high‑visibility events and programs.
• Commitment to inclusive engagement of diverse alumni populations.
