Director, Legal Affairs (Litigation)

About the role

Bitdeer, a technology company for AI and Bitcoin mining infrastructure, is looking for a Director of Legal Affairs (Litigation) for its U.S. Legal team in San Jose, California. This is a function leadership role reporting to the General Counsel, North America, defining litigation strategy and working alongside experienced litigation counsel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the North America disputes docket end to end, including allocation, strategy, outcomes, timelines and spend across litigation, arbitration, pre-suit disputes and regulatory proceedings.
• Lead high-exposure matters such as major site and project disputes, securities and shareholder issues, and matters with public-company disclosure consequences.
• Build and manage the outside counsel panel, negotiate rates and fee arrangements, and track spend and performance.
• Run the litigation hold and preservation program, including eDiscovery vendor management and privilege oversight.
• Set standards for matter intake, case management, reporting and settlement authority.
• Provide exposure, reserve and loss-contingency analysis to Finance, auditors and the disclosure process, and advise senior management and the Board or Audit Committee.
• Negotiate settlements and lead responses to subpoenas, regulatory inquiries and government information requests, and oversee internal investigations.
• Advise on insurance coverage and support management on other legal matters.

Required profile

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership; California admission preferred, others must be eligible to register as Registered In-House Counsel.
• 12+ years of complex commercial litigation experience, including leading matters in state and federal court and arbitration, and first- or second-chair trial or arbitration experience.
• In-house experience at a public company, or disputes experience in energy, power, construction, real estate or infrastructure.
• Experience with securities litigation, insurance coverage disputes, bankruptcy, employment litigation or land use matters, and internal investigations or regulatory responses.

Required skills

• Dispositive motions, discovery, expert work and trial or arbitration advocacy.
• Outside counsel panel management and budget discipline.
• Excellent writing and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to work across Asia and North America, including outside U.S. business hours, and to travel to project sites, courts and hearings.
