Director, Infrastructure and Cloud

About the role

Meijer is hiring a Director, Infrastructure and Cloud in Grand Rapids. The role is responsible for the reliability, resiliency, delivery and modernization of the organization's core infrastructure platforms, covering compute, storage, cloud, edge, virtualization, mainframe and database platforms. It leads day-to-day operations, strategic planning, security alignment, cost management and vendor performance, working with technology and business leaders.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the infrastructure strategy and roadmap, aligning investments, lifecycle plans and capacity with enterprise goals and annual planning.
• Own operational health, availability, performance and service levels, and oversee project delivery on time and within budget.
• Drive incident and problem management, automation, standardization and continuous improvement.
• Manage cloud infrastructure in GCP and Azure, including OpenShift, with security, governance and cost controls.
• Manage storage, edge computing, virtual desktop, mainframe and database environments, and guide hybrid workload placement.
• Lead and mentor a team of infrastructure engineers, architects and leaders.
• Own operating and capital budget planning, and manage vendor, managed service, hardware, software and cloud partnerships.
• Partner with Security, Finance, Procurement and Risk on security, compliance, audit readiness and risk mitigation.
• Own business continuity, disaster recovery and resiliency planning, and communicate risks and issues to stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 12+ years in infrastructure, cloud or platform operations in a large enterprise environment.
• 7+ years leading technical teams, including senior manager or director-level responsibilities.
• Proven experience managing large teams, delivery initiatives, budgets, vendors, platform lifecycle and operational risk.
• Preferred: retail, distribution or supply chain experience, and experience with ITIL, FinOps, business continuity, disaster recovery, audit or compliance.
