Director Human Resources - Technology

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Director of Human Resources for its Technology area. The position directs the implementation of HR plans and programs so that human resources are used effectively to support the area's objectives, working closely with business partners. It typically supervises several Human Resources Managers covering different functions or locations, and reports to a Human Resources Senior Director.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with management to identify and plan HR requirements for short- and long-term business needs.
• Direct processes that identify the development needs of managers and associates to build a bench supporting Home Depot growth.
• Develop the strategy for sourcing and staffing associates for the organizational unit.
• Counsel and coach management on employee relations issues and guide them on tools and tactics for avoiding union activity.
• Lead roll-outs of HR programs and make final decisions on legal settlements based on risk.
• Select, develop and motivate assigned staff.

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job; 8 years of HR experience preferred.
• Ability to lead negotiations in a competitive or adversarial environment and to handle unstructured situations requiring original approaches.
• Typical working conditions involve regular pressure to meet deadlines and quotas and frequent difficult people-related issues; occasional lifting of light items.

Required skills

• People management and supervisory experience.
• Knowledge of HR specialties such as employment law, employee relations, management and organizational development, staffing, training and compensation.
• Business analysis skills and strong knowledge of Home Depot business processes.
