About the role

The Texas A&M High Performance Research Computing (HPRC) seeks a visionary Director for Emerging Technologies and Research. This senior leader will guide the institute’s AI and HPC strategy, fostering innovative projects that advance computational science across the university.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a strategic roadmap for emerging AI, HPC, and data‑science technologies.
• Lead complex, interdisciplinary research projects and manage large‑scale computing resources.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and external partners to secure funding and drive technology adoption.
• Oversee the design, deployment, and operation of high‑performance clusters and AI infrastructure.
• Provide technical leadership in systems administration, applications engineering, and data management.

Required profile

• Proven track record in leading large‑scale AI/HPC initiatives.
• Strong academic or industry background in high‑performance computing, artificial intelligence, or data science.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑moving research environment.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical vision to diverse stakeholders.
