Software Applications Developer/Programmer III – AI/ML

About the role

The Software Applications Developer/Programmer III – AI/ML will lead technical efforts at the Autonomy Research Institute, delivering high‑quality AI/ML‑enabled web and server‑side solutions for Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The role combines hands‑on development with mentorship of junior staff and students.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, modify, debug, test, deploy and maintain C#/.NET, JavaScript and Python web‑based applications.
• Train, test, evaluate and optimize AI/ML models for production environments.
• Integrate AI/ML components into front‑end and back‑end systems while ensuring security, scalability, reliability and maintainability.
• Review and approve software designs, coordinate integration of multiple codebases, and enforce best‑practice standards.
• Oversee documentation review, performance analysis and problem resolution.
• Create and approve test plans for AI/ML models and software solutions.
• Participate in data architecture design, system optimization and performance tuning.
• Supervise and mentor junior developers and student workers, providing technical guidance.
