Director, Campus Planning

About the role

The University of Miami/UHealth is seeking a full‑time Director of Campus Planning to lead transportation, traffic, and parking management planning for the UHealth Medical Campus. The role focuses on developing policies and projects that improve campus accessibility while reducing single‑occupant vehicle use.

Key responsibilities

• Develop policies, plans, and projects related to road, mass‑transit, pedestrian, and biking access to the university.
• Coordinate long‑term campus master planning and future parking demand with other departments.
• Oversee consultant studies, including RFP preparation, consultant selection, and supervision.
• Generate traffic, parking, and transportation reports and memoranda.
• Advance recommendations to minimize traffic around facilities and maintain knowledge of transportation and land‑use legislation.
• Assess infrastructure requirements for campus developments and improve mobility services.
• Lead short‑ and long‑term plans for pedestrian mobility and alternative transportation modes.
• Manage building recertification programs and ensure compliance with regulatory timelines.
• Develop and maintain relationships with the City of Miami, Miami‑Dade County, and other authorities.
• Provide guidance on regulatory processes, entitlements, and approvals for new construction and campus expansion.

Required profile

• Proven experience directing transportation, traffic, and parking management planning activities.
• Ability to develop and implement access policies for roads, mass‑transit, pedestrians, and cyclists.
• Experience overseeing consultant studies, RFP processes, and supervising external work.
• Strong knowledge of transportation and land‑use legislation.
• Experience collaborating with internal departments and external agencies on campus planning and land‑use matters.
