Digital Stewardship Librarian (Assistant/Associate Professor)

About the role

The University of Miami Libraries is seeking a collaborative, innovative, and creative professional to serve as a Digital Stewardship Librarian. This faculty position bridges the preservation of unique cultural heritage collections with making them discoverable and usable for scholars and the public.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate cross‑departmental initiatives to create an integrated preservation‑to‑access pipeline.
• Develop and implement curation practices for born‑digital and digitized collections throughout their lifecycle.
• Partner with subject‑specialty libraries to advise on digital holdings curation.
• Appraise, describe, and make digital materials available through discovery platforms such as CONTENTdm.
• Monitor storage, manage format migrations, and ensure long‑term integrity of digital archival materials.

Required profile

• Experience in digital preservation, curation, and metadata creation.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple library units and external partners.
• Strong communication skills to translate technical workflows into user‑focused access strategies.
