About the role
R+L Carriers is seeking a Diesel Mechanic for its Meriden, CT Service Center. The role involves day‑to‑day maintenance of a fleet that includes Class 8 trucks, trailers and occasionally forklifts, ensuring reliable operation and safety.
Key responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and minor to major repairs on Class 8 trucks, trailers and forklifts.
- Maintain ancillary equipment such as trailers, overhead doors, lift gates, dollies and perform welding when required.
Required profile
- At least 2 years of diesel mechanic experience, preferably with Cummins and Detroit engines.
- Ability to lift 50 lb, possess personal tools and handle major repairs.
- Experience working with AC and electrical systems.
Required skills
- Preventive maintenance on diesel engines.
- Major diesel engine repairs.
- AC and electrical system troubleshooting.
- Use of Cetaris work‑order system.
- Trailer preventative maintenance and repairs.
