Diamond Core Driller - Mineral Exploration (Idaho)

About the role

Gatesource HR is looking for an experienced Diamond (Core) Driller to join its operations team in Idaho and support high-quality mineral exploration projects. The Driller operates and maintains diamond core rigs to collect accurate geological samples for gold, copper and silver exploration projects.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain diamond (core) drilling rigs for about 85% of the time, performing daily drilling operations such as hole advancement, core recovery and orientation.
• Interpret and execute operational plans provided by geologists and site engineers.
• Ensure safety, productivity and environmental best practices on site, and report anomalies, equipment issues or drilling challenges promptly.
• Supportive tasks (about 15% of time): safety rounds and equipment inspections, preventive maintenance (greasing, fluid changes, minor repairs), preparing core boxes and logging systems and keeping accurate sample records, and communicating with the crew about hole depth, core quality and equipment status.

Required profile

• Drilling certification or equivalent trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in diamond/core drilling for mineral exploration.
• Knowledge of mineral exploration practices (gold, silver, copper).
• Ability to work in remote locations and variable weather conditions.
• Safety-conscious, with experience following MSHA and environmental regulations.
• Preferred: experience with wireline-assisted core drilling and HQ/NQ-sized core, ability to supervise or mentor assistant drillers, and knowledge of Idaho geology.
