Diagnostic Technologist

About the role

The Diagnostic Technologist provides diagnostic‑quality radiologic imaging under physician direction while maintaining radiation protection standards. The role emphasizes patient care, safety, and accurate image processing for radiologist interpretation.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and process diagnostic quality images for radiologist review.
• Apply radiation protection standards, using appropriate exposure factors, collimation, and documentation.
• Verify physician orders, ensure correct patient identification, and attach images to the proper patient folder.
• Document LMP, fluoroscopy time, radiologist, image count, and relevant clinical history.
• Coordinate daily workflow, ensure images are transferred to PACS, and report equipment issues.
• Assist in training new employees, students, and ancillary staff.
• Maintain cleanliness and orderliness of the work area.

Required profile

• Technical School Diploma or graduate of an accredited Radiography program.
• Less than 1 year of experience or recent graduate.
• Ability to handle confidential medical information ethically.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association) and state radiologic technologist registration.

Required skills

• Radiologic imaging techniques and equipment operation.
• Radiation safety and protection protocols.
• Use of PACS for image management.
• Accurate documentation of imaging procedures.
• Physical ability to lift and move equipment and patients.
