Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

About the role

The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer will operate ultrasound equipment to capture high‑quality images, ensuring patient safety and comfort while supporting physicians in diagnosing a wide range of conditions at Avon Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic sonographic imaging, including obstetrical, GYN, abdominal, pediatric, and vascular studies.
• Review patient charts, educate patients about procedures, and ensure their comfort and safety during exams.
• Acquire, archive, transmit, and print images via PACS and process billing through RIS.
• Maintain equipment functionality, report malfunctions, and assist with clinical instruction of students and new caregivers.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
• Registered Diagnostic Sonographer (RDMS) or equivalent certification at hire.
• One specialty certification (abdominal, OB/GYN, or vascular) at hire; remaining certifications within 18 months.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Required skills
