DevOps Engineer - Bare-Metal Linux & Kubernetes Infrastructure

About the role

MANTECH, a provider of technology solutions to government intelligence agencies since 1968, is hiring a full-time, onsite DevOps Engineer in Herndon, Virginia. The role covers end-to-end management of bare-metal Linux and Kubernetes infrastructure, including GPU-accelerated nodes and automated GitOps workflows, supporting high-performance computing in secure, air-gapped environments.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, secure and maintain bare-metal servers running Enterprise Linux 8 and 10
• Provision, upgrade and manage multi-cluster Kubernetes environments using Rancher
• Build scalable Kubernetes resources such as StatefulSets, Deployments, DaemonSets, ConfigMaps, Secrets and Persistent Volumes
• Build and maintain GitOps-driven deployment pipelines and automated cluster synchronization with ArgoCD
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows via Git
• Document work in JIRA and Confluence

Required profile

• High school diploma and 4+ years of Linux system administration experience
• Experience with Enterprise Linux
• 2+ years of hands-on Kubernetes experience, or an active CKA credential
• 1+ year managing version control, repository management and CI/CD with GitLab or Bitbucket
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph clearance
• Able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

Preferred qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
• Experience with Linux and Kubernetes infrastructure in an air-gapped, zero-internet environment
• Experience with ArgoCD, NVIDIA GPU nodes (CUDA drivers, GPU operators) and bare-metal IPMI/iLO/iDRAC management
