Development Systems Engineer – Test Equipment Design

About the role

Moog’s Space & Defense Group is seeking a Development Systems Engineer to design and develop hydraulic, electro‑hydraulic, electro‑mechanical, servo‑mechanism, and electro‑pneumatic test equipment used for military, commercial, and space vehicle programs. The role is onsite in Buffalo, NY and offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge test systems that support both development and production hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop new test equipment, assemblies, and processes to meet cost, schedule, and performance goals.
• Collaborate with internal program teams to define system architecture, interfaces, and validate requirements.
• Lead the design process, provide technical leadership, and coordinate work of other engineers.
• Develop system‑level requirements, decompose them to component levels, and verify test equipment performance.
• Design linear and rotary test equipment systems supporting development and production hardware.
• Use MATLAB/Simulink to build and analyze system models, predict performance, and manage margins.
• Perform hardware correlation, system integration, and verification testing.
• Support the assembly and integration of test equipment.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
• 3+ years of relevant technical experience.
• Self‑motivation, critical thinking, and strong analytical abilities.
• Excellent technical written and verbal communication skills.
